April Sky

In Minnesota, there is nothing like April. The ground is thawing from the frozen winter, the Sun is warming everything, so we get a cool breeze when the but are warmed when the Sun is out. Isn't that the way life is.The seasons change, we have times where we need warmth from the cold winds that chill our dreams, and yet there are the hot days that we are incapacitated desiring the simple need of water and a refuge from the heat. The simple fact in life is that we need God. That is how He made us. People keep on doing what they do, ignoring Him, but He keeps trying. The Creator of all we know and are doesn't need to have grace on our insolance, but he does everyday: making the Sun shine and the Moon stay in orbit, letting us grow in understanding while having patience with us, and most of all revealing his character in the basic relationships of life: showing that which is the most important thing to us all, the very thing we all need, love.

Salmos 3

David was a man who knew trouble. He was someone who knew the joy of living for the Lord the threat of death that comes with it. Even so, he says "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me." (ESV) And, as he finds comfort in God, he calls on Him to do what only a God of Justice and Love can do, "Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people." (ESV) My hope is that we can remember this in our lives and put our hope where it belongs, in the Creator of all things.

Faithful 1

I had a friend down in Mankato, MN. We used to get together at his house, encourage each other and have a great time together. One day, he up and walked out of his family's life. I can't imagine fully what that is like, but the song called faithful 1 was born from that very desire, to know have that faithful friend, faithful no matter what. It seems to me that in the U.S., that is one of the devil's best plans, to destroy the image of the Father and the image of the Faithful Christ to the Church and the Church to the Servant-leader.

So Long Song

There was a School in Japan where I studied. We came from all parts of the Minnesota and Japan to study there. Few of us knew each other before we came, but we all got to know each other quickly. Walking along that path so distant from home, we didn't have many options, but it was good to get to know all those people. There was a time that journey had to end for some of us and we all had to move on. So Long Song came out of that time. We meet people in life and our paths often cross again and again. I much rather saying "so long" rather than some definitive as "goodbye" and remember each other and the good times that we shared in our journey called life.

Salmos 54 (Enemigos)

David and I have two things in coming that's for sure, we like to sing and our hope is in God. David counts on God and makes it known again in this psalm: "O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might... For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves." My wife likes to call this song "Enemigos" because at the time that we made this song we were in El Salvador. She was learning some Spanish at the time, and one of the words that she caught was "enemigos" in the line "He will return the evil to my enemies". So every time she wanted to sing that song, she'd say "Let's sing the enemigos song".

It's A Mystery

God's love is a mystery. He loves us. He defines what love is for us. He is love. And yet we don't love Him. That the Creator of all that we know and are would love us, even when we don't love Him, and polute this world with sin and evil, that is surely a mystery. Spelling is also a mystry...to me. I don't know if you have noticed, but the spelling on the CD is correct, while the spelling online isn't correct. The consequence of not taking a bit more time to check things over was that I made a mistake. Being my first CD that I wanted to produce at a professional level I took more time and had Ray Siler and his team help me check over things. That is one thing that we caught in the process, mystry is Mystery. Funny (haahaa) now to look back on and see how things happen.

Things You Do When You're Young

This song recounts what happens when we don't listen to God and follow our own ways. I was in 10 when a friend of mine showed me his dad's stash of porn. This moment changed my life. I never saw women for who they really are from that point on. My vision, perverted. It has taken many years of God's restoration and maturity to deal with this, but I am constantly reminded of this struggle, not only in my life, but in the lives of my friends who do not deal with this hurtful, silent killer.

D

The song might be named because of my father-in-law, big D. It might be named because of Dios. But no, it is in the key of D. That is why the song is called simply…D.

Rock of Ages

This classic needs no explanation by me. I write music for Living Waters Bible Camp and they asked me to redo this song. God really blessed us all here with a great song. I hope you are as blessed as I was in recording it.

Built on the Rock

The foundation of a Christ follower is on the Rock. There is no other way that one can truly be a Christian (which means little christ or little "anointed one") than by being on the Rock, that is Jesus: all that He said and did. Many people choose to call themselves Christians, but not every one who does is willing to die to themselves, as Jesus told us to do, to take up their cross, the difficult things in life that kill us (our self-focused desires), embrace the death of them and follow God fully. This is journey that God calls us to, to love Him with all we have, just as He loves us.
